MURRAY, Ky. — Arthur Fields, a 1967 accounting and 1968 MBA alumnus of the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business at Murray State University, recently made a transformational gift of $1,500,000 to the Murray State University Foundation. One million dollars has established the Arthur W. Fields Fund for Excellence in the College of Business to support scholarships and operational funding for business students and programs, and $500,000 has established the Arthur W. Fields Sigma Chi Scholarship to offer financial support for good-standing, active members of the Epsilon Tau Chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity at Murray State.
“We are deeply grateful to Mr. Fields for his tremendous generosity with this transformational gift. His gift will have an immense impact on the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business and our students including much-needed scholarships. We greatly appreciate his vision and support as we work to advance the University,” said Murray State President Dr. Bob Jackson.
A strong advocate of higher education, Mr. Fields believes strongly that the education he received at Murray State has been instrumental in his professional and financial success. Accordingly, he has established multiple endowments at the MSU Foundation, including the A. W. Fields Family Fund for Excellence in Accounting, in efforts to provide accessibility and quality programs to students.
“What incredible generosity. Mr. Fields’s love for Murray State University is more than evident, as is his commitment to future generations of Racers. His legacy will not be these amazing gifts, but will be the successes achieved by countless individuals whose lives were enhanced because of these gifts,” stated Dr. David Durr, Murray State University Foundation President.
Mr. Fields was recognized by Murray State in 2000 as a distinguished alumnus and was honored by Murray State’s Beta Alpha Psi national accounting fraternity as its outstanding alumnus that same year.
