Dr. Slone Cansler will lead organization devoted to improve students’ access to higher education
MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University Hopkinsville Regional Campus Director Dr. Slone Cansler, ’97, ’00, has been named chair of the Kentucky Association of Continuing Higher Education (KACHE), a statewide organization devoted to improving access to higher education for students across the commonwealth.
For years, KACHE has sought to fulfill its mission of offering programs and information about educational opportunities in Kentucky. Its membership includes most four-year institutions in Kentucky, along with private schools and institutions within the Kentucky Community & Technical College System.
Cansler was named KACHE chair during the organization’s annual meeting, held Sept. 22.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to serve in KACHE, as this organization provides valuable support to higher education practitioners throughout the state of Kentucky,” said Cansler, who has served as director of the Hopkinsville Regional Campus since 2010.
“The mission of the Kentucky Association of Continuing Higher Education is to promote the development and growth of continuing and adult education professionals in Kentucky,” said Dan Lavit, former KACHE chair and executive director of the Murray State University Center for Adult and Regional Education. “Postsecondary outreach has been central to Dr. Cansler’s professional and academic pursuits. Her leadership in this statewide organization will help promote best practices and networking in continuing higher education.”
