Educate to Career rankings name Murray State among best universities in country
MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University has been recognized as a Tier 1 university by Educate to Career (ETC) in its 2020 College Rankings.
ETC is a nonprofit organization formed in 2013 that seeks to inform parents, educators, students and others on the cost of college, career outcomes and other important areas during the higher education planning process.
The newest 2020 College Rankings include an update for prospective college students as they weigh their college plans. To be considered a Tier 1 university, institutions must provide the following:
- A physical campus for in-classroom instruction
- Robust software and systems to support distance learning programs
- Faculty experience in teaching online
- Reasonable tuitions and fees on a relative basis
ETC specifically applauded Murray State for its commitment to offering Racers affordable, valuable degrees at a reasonable total cost that transition them into the labor market with high relative earnings. The rankings also praise the University’s distance learning offerings as new college students consider earning their degree online.
Murray State, which leads all Kentucky universities in graduation rate and first to second-year retention for undergraduate students based on 2018-19 data, has been consistently recognized by national publications for its award-winning academic programs, campus life, safety initiatives and overall value and quality. The University has been named a “Best Bang for the Buck” by Washington Monthly, one of “America’s Best Colleges” by Forbes for 12 straight years and a “Top-Tier University” by U.S. News & World Report for 29 consecutive years.
