MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University has announced a new partnership with Primary Care Medical Center of Murray as the campus health services provider for students, faculty and staff.
Effective June 1, Primary Care Medical Center will occupy a location within the first floor of Wells Hall on the quadrangle-facing side of Murray State’s campus. Primary Care Medical Center will continue to operate its services at their 1000 South 12th Street location in Murray.
“A campus health service that provides the best in quality care is an extremely important part of Murray State University’s commitment for our students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Bob Jackson, president of Murray State University. “In evaluating medical providers who submitted their materials for consideration, it was apparent that Primary Care Medical Center provides the necessary services, administered by an on-site physician, advanced nurse practitioner or other medical staff who bring a great deal of expertise, attention and care for patients. We are excited about this new, innovative partnership which will provide vital on-campus health services to Murray State University.”
A physician and staff will be on site at the new campus location, which will be open from 8–11 a.m. and 2–4 p.m. Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters, and from 9 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday during the summer. Primary Care also provides after-hours access to a physician via telephone at 270-809-3809, as well as an innovative smartphone app in order to interact with medical professionals as a component of the new partnership.
Primary Care will file insurance claims and for those individuals who do not have or desire to use their health insurance, Primary Care will provide services on a pay-per-visit basis. Patients who visit the on-campus location and are in need of additional treatment or consultation will receive priority service at the in-town 12th Street location by presenting their Murray State RacerCard ID.
Beginning May 3 until the center’s opening on June 1, students, faculty and staff can access Primary Care Medical Center at Murray State by visiting the Wells Hall location and arranging complimentary transportation, if needed, to the Center’s 12th Street location during operating hours.
“Murray State University is very important to our city, region and state,” said Dr. Robert C. Hughes, managing partner of Primary Care Medical Center. “We are proud to be chosen to provide them with health care services for their students, faculty and staff both on campus and at Primary Care Medical Center.”
