MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University has announced several new scholarship opportunities for international students.

International academic achievement scholarships are now awarded to first-year degree-seeking, self-pay international students pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Depending on the qualifications of a student, these are valued at up to 60 percent of tuition, and are renewable for up to four years. The global outreach scholarship will remain available for undergraduate international students. No separate scholarship application is required, aside from the admissions application, for these scholarship opportunities. Full-time students who are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours are eligible for the academic achievement and the global outreach scholarships.

Discounts up to $5,000 per academic year are also available for exchange students from partner universities.

Through new international transfer scholarships, incoming undergraduate international transfer students from U.S. colleges with at least 45 credit hours and a minimum GPA of 3.25 are eligible for a $2,000 scholarship, awarded each semester for up to four semesters.

Murray State is one of nearly 60 colleges and universities nationwide that has joined the #YouAreWelcomeHere national scholarship program, pledging to create scholarships for international students. Eligible for students who will be admitted for the fall 2019 semester, Murray State will offer two annual, renewable scholarships that will cover a minimum of 50 percent of recipients’ tuition.

To qualify, international applicants must hold citizenship in a country outside the U.S. and also not possess U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Interested students must apply for admission to Murray State before completing a #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship application at murraystate.edu/scholarships. The application deadline for 2019-20 scholarships is April 1.

“It’s a testament to our institution that Murray State’s international student population includes individuals from more than 50 countries, who come here to pursue their degree and achieve their dreams through a comprehensive University experience,” said Don Robertson, vice president of student affairs. “We’re confident that these scholarship opportunities offered to international students will be well-received and place us in a more competitive position relative to the global market.”

Those with questions may e-mail msu.intl@murraystate.edu or visit murraystate.edu/international for more information. For a limited time, the application fee for prospective fall 2019 international students will be waived.
