MURRAY, Ky. — As theatre season commences at Murray State University, the department of global languages and theatre arts opens with a production of “The Praying Mantis” by Alejandro Sieveking on Sept. 20.
Translated from “La Mantis Religiosa” by Charles Philip Thomas and directed by Daryl W. Phillipy, this darkly comedic Chilean tale of family secrets features love, madness and horror. Three sisters tangle for the romantic interests of a young gentleman, Juan, who sends them down a dark and horrific path of love and betrayal.
The production runs Sept. 20 – 23 in the Wilson Hall Black Box Studio on the campus of Murray State. Please note there is a parental advisory for some mild sexual content and dark themes, and the play is suggested for ages 13 to adult.
