MURRAY, Ky. — Below is information with recent news, notes and accomplishments at Murray State University.

 

Incoming Murray State freshman Jonah Brannon of Puryear, Tennessee recently received a $2,000 scholarship through the Independent Professional Seed Association. Brannon will major in agribusiness economics with an emphasis in crop production at Murray State. Brannon is a recent graduate of Calloway County High School, where he was one of the valedictorians and was involved with the local FFA chapter, which recently received the coveted State Star in Production award.

Murray State University alumnus Anthony Clark Evans recently took third place in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Evans, who studied voice at Murray State, made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City earlier this year.

Murray State University alumnus Jon Anderson was recently named chief deputy division director of the Georgia division of family and children services. Anderson, a native of Pittsburg, Illinois, has more than 25 years of experience working with eligibility-based economic assistance programs in Georgia.
