MURRAY, Ky. — On Feb 29., 400 high school and middle school students from around Kentucky gathered at Murray State University for TRIO Day. The event featured scholarly competitions and academic workshops as well as information sessions about college life at Murray State. Participants had the opportunity to hear guest speakers Kenny Imes, state representative, and Dr. Anton Reese, president of West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
TRIO is composed of several student service programs designed to assist students from low-income and/or first-generation families progress from middle school to college. The event is celebrated each year by programs across the nation, and this is the first time since 2010 that Murray State has hosted a statewide TRIO Day.
